I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I attended Angelo State University (ASU) and became a Math teacher, and went on to serve children of all backgrounds for 31 years. I attended Dallas Baptist University for my Masters in School Counseling and fell in love with the treatment of trauma. After retiring from education, I began my work in professional counseling. I have experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy, but my favorite form of treatment involves EMDR and the Enneagram, of which I have been trained by premier trainers.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is a wonderful protocol that helps resolve incidents that a person encounters that might “keep them stuck” which leads to depression, anxiety, health issues, and even addiction. It can also be used for relieving pain, treating addiction, and many forms of trauma.
The Enneagram is an ancient personality typing system that helps people understand who they are and what makes them tick. Learning how you relate to others and how others relate to you can set you on a new path in life with freedom to be who you were made to be…unapologetically.
Freeing yourself from trauma with EMDR, learning mindfulness, and finding out your natural strengths and weaknesses with the Enneagram has a way of turning your life from constant struggle and helplessness to success and happiness.
I work with all ages (ages 5 and above) and people from all backgrounds (race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.). It is my belief that we all need a counselor. Find someone you trust and establish a safe relationship. You will need a sounding board at some point. If you are proactive, you will feel secure in knowing your counselor is just one call away.
